Old Mutual Wealth Kids First

Old Mutual Wealth Kids First is England Rugby’s approach to rugby for 6-13 year olds. It gives children the opportunity to prosper by fostering an environment for having fun, learning and building confidence. It’s all about helping children develop and learn the game at their own pace, and making sure they have plenty of fun while playing.

How do I sign up my club or school for Old Mutual Wealth Kids First pledge?

We’re asking all clubs and schools across Coventry and Warwickshire to take the Old Mutual Wealth Kids First pledge to commit to a range of high quality standards. All clubs and schools with children aged 6-13 can sign up; ask your Club Chairman or Head Teacher to take the Old Mutual Wealth Kids First pledge by registering their details.

What resources are available?

The start-up pack contains physical resources for your players, coaches/teaches and parents, as well as a plaque so that you can proudly display your commitment in putting Kids First. You will also gain access to an online toolkit where you can personalise and download promotional material to advertise your involvement in Old Mutual Wealth Kids First.

Get involved in the SKY TRY rugby league programme with Coventry Bears

Sky Try is all about helping more children enjoy Rugby League nationwide. It’s a ground breaking new partnership initiative between the RFL, Sky and the Rugby League Foundations.
Sky Try is the biggest ever programme of Rugby League opportunities in primary and secondary schools and is helping 700,000 more children and young people have fun, get active, grow in confidence and enjoy Rugby League.
The Sky Try campaign inspires children and young people through professional Rugby League clubs and major Rugby League events. Sky Try is changing the future of Rugby League by giving hundreds of thousands of children and young people a high quality introduction to the sport and helping them to find more playing local opportunities – from school teams to local community clubs and the award-winning talent pathway.

Rugby union is a game for All Schools – everyone can play it and every school can teach it! CBRE All Schools has been developed by the RFU to increase the amount of rugby in schools, and to encourage new players to join local clubs. Aiming to take the game into 750 state secondary schools, the All Schools programme aims of making school life happier and healthier, reducing anti-social behaviour, enhancing learning and increasing self-esteem for students.

Investing in the next generation

CBRE All Schools is one of the RFU’s major development programmes from the 2015 Rugby World Cup; it presents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to deliver the greatest participatory legacy for the game. For Further information about how your school can access the programme please contact:

Primary Schools

Through Coventry Bears, Wasps and Coventry Rugby, there are a number of programmes available to schools across the course of the academic year. Additionally, each partner also offers numerous rugby camps at regular holiday periods (half terms, summer holidays etc) across the year.

Secondary Schools

We also want to support and develop rugby at secondary schools, working in partnership with schools and local rugby clubs, to provide a pathway for those who want to join a local club and continue playing the sport.

Coventry School’s Union organises an annual schools competition and cup fixtures, open to all schools no matter how long or advanced pupils are in playing the game. The City of Rugby initiative will work with all organisations to develop and support a structured framework for schools rugby across league and union, ensuring equity of opportunity for every school.
